Introduction to Elektriteater

For quite a time already, I have now been in a group of volunteers for MTÜ Elektriteater. Elektriteater is the only art-house cinema in Tartu, focusing on independent and European movies. It is my favourite cinema and since finding out about the place in autumn 2014 I have been an avid visitor. (The first movie I saw there was Frank, which was great and the second movie, Only Lovers Left Alive, is still one of my absolute favourites.)
In summer 2016 they had planned to show cinema outdoors in different locations around Tartu. They were looking for volunteers for the outdoor cinema and I applied and was picked out for the outdoor cinema group. After helping the Elektriteater people over the summer, I got into a cool inside circle volunteer Facebook group. Occasionally there are some smaller projects with which volunteers can help. I also was one of the volunteers making the outdoor cinema last summer.
The people there are friendly and warm and the whole place always feels cozy and welcoming, which is the reason I'm always happy to go back and help them with various tasks or just sometimes invite my friends to see movies they would otherwise never see. (I recently went to see Bad Black, an action movie from Uganda with my classmate Ingrid.) Previously, I have for example helped with selling tickets, moving their office and decorating the cinema with real grass for the special screenings of movies by the Japanese animation legend Hayao Miyazaki.

I will add a link about the Miyazaki retrospective because this event was just the best.
